ANTISOCIAL CULTURE
This is the biggest reason why most people leave Sweden
Note, by antisocial people I mean Swedish people only, not immigrants
I have heard that Swedish people are more social in Stockholm then Skåne (south of Sweden) though
Like any other country you are born and all is well but then starts the problems
As a kid it is not hard to have fun no matter where you live but here starts the problems that many kids do not notice
The goverment in Sweden is a bit like your mother, anything thats a bit dangerouse is not allowed by the state
In many countries the goverment tells you what is bad and so on, in Sweden the goverment makes laws against it=the kids do not learn to handle things but instead get scared to try new things because after all, Swedish goverment said if it is not safe we will make sure you do not try it
Sure Swedish kids smoke, drink, have sex and all that like any other kid around the world but the things like using guns (USA), driving (USA)... we do not do so we do not really learn responsibility in the same way
I think that making sure we do not do dangerouse things here in Sweden makes people weak/scared/pussies
In school we are told no one is better then anyone else, we are all the same smart and can do anything if we give 110%=I think this makes sweds a scared to try new things
Alot of Swedes move to other countries because they feel the Swedish way of life where nothing really super exiting happenes is a bit dull
I have read on forums that many immigrants who come here say many good things about Sweden but they always mention that Sweden is more boring then the country they came from even if they have better economy in Sweden
Another good example is if the goverment does something we do not like we can talk about it at lunch breaks at work, we vote how we feel but we never go on the street and protest
Now the immigrants protest on the streets and the Swedes follow but Swedes would never go alone

This picture is a perfect example of Swedes
They do not talk to new people, they hardly say hello to strangers on the street or at the bus stop, if you smile or say hello to them most Swedes will think you are weird/strange (no joke) and yes it can take long time to make new friends because a Swede needs to know you for over 6 month before they even consider you a friend
I have talked to immigrants who lived in Sweden over 2 years and still have no Swedish friends
A Swede thinks "I have 5 friends, why do I need 6 friends", an American would probably think "it is always nice meeting new people"
Many Swedes actually live like this
They work on weekends but after work go home and watch tv, on friday evening they go to the same bar with the same 5 friends, 2 weeks/year they go to some warm country and sit at the beach all the time and after go home and start the swedish way of life again
And to finish this I will give you 4 true stories
1. I was walking threw the village to go to buy some snacks
I see 10 people in total walk on the other side of the road so every time I see them I say hello, smile, put my hand in the air and wave (in hello motion)
Of the 10 people, 9 do not answer me, 3 of the 9 look weird at me, and the last person says hello in a soft voice, looks at the ground and quickly walks away
I have done the same in Malmö (big city, pop 250.000+) and it is always the same, few answer or they look weird at me for talking to strangers
2. This has happened many times
I am on the train and around me I see maybe 20-30 people sitting
The trip was maybe 30 min and during that time not a singel person was taking, not 1 person talked to another stranger
3. I am on the bus many times and see people sitting with a bag on the seat next to them
People around stand in the bus instead of asking the person to remove the bag so they can sit
4. The last story is a story my mothers american husband told me
He and my mother was on a 10 day trip to Denver, usa (my mothers first trip to USA) and during those 10 days they got invited to barbecue, to horse riding...
The irony being that he has lived in Sweden since 2003-2004 and not once was he invited to a barbecue or for that matter anything with a stranger
Does that mean you should stay away from Sweden if you want to live here?
Not at all, I only write about my experiences in Skåne (south of Sweden) but I hear they are more social in Stockholm thought it is possible to make friends in Skåne even if you dont study, it just takes more work then other countries
After all Malmö, Lund... are big cities so you might find some nice people just do not exoect to make real/long lasting friendships in a month or 2
IN SHORT
I do not know what makes Swedes anti social
Maybe it is the weather, the "mother" goverment, small country=not alot of things to do here like other big cities (London, Tokyo, Los Angeles, New York..) or the fact that many Swedes do not leave the town they grew up in so they do not meet new people who moved to the city in the same way like you see in other countries
I have read around on forums and people do say Swedes are social when they are not in Sweden and that the most fun Swedes you ever see are the Swedes who travel away from Sweden=something about the swedish culture sucks
Also heard that sure Swedes are social when it is summer [in winter (7+ month/year) it is to cold so they stay at home] but even so you can easily comopare a Swede vs someone from south Europe (even in the summer time) and easily see the difference
